Katherine Showgrounds (Home of the Katherine Show)

Visited the katherine show mainly for the rodeo. While waiting for the rodeo we decided to watch the barrel challenge. We sat and waited, it was due to start at 5.pm. There was no announcement but obviously it was a no show. Also according to the program the rodeo was to start at 6 pm but again we waited and were told that it would start at 6.30. Very disappointed. Also no chairs supplied. We are from victoria and expected a grandstand or at least some seating.

We were lucky enough to be in Katherine for their show in 2016. For a rural show it had everything that was needed. There were lots to look at from machinery and storage to displays by the National Parks as well as live animals. The oval had the normal range of events from horses and cattle to racing utes. There were many amusement rides which were well enjoyed by young and old alike. The local schools and pre-schools had displays which meant that grandparents had to attend.
